How to Start Kettlebells
How to start kettlebells with one kettlebell. Learn the swing, goblet squat, and press, then do a beginner kettlebell workout.
Start with one kettlebell you can swing for 10 reps with good form. For most people that is 12–16 kg.
Learn three kettlebell exercises first: kettlebell swing, goblet squat, and kettlebell press. Most beginner kettlebell workouts are these three moves, rearranged.
- Days 1–2: practice the kettlebell swing. Do 10 sets of 10 if your form is solid, or 5 sets of 10 if it is not.
- Days 3–4: add goblet squats. Move slowly and keep your elbows inside your knees.
- Day 5: do a beginner kettlebell workout. Stop while you can still keep good form.
