Beginner Kettlebell Fundamentals Workout (One Bell, 3–4 Rounds)

3–4 rds3–4 rounds

Your first full beginner kettlebell session: one bell, five fundamentals (squat, swing, press, row, march), 3–4 rounds. Done = clean reps with 2 min rest — not racing the clock.

Who it's for: first-month kettlebell trainees with one bell at home. Not a finisher race — a full session that teaches squat, hinge, press, pull, and loaded posture together. Browse the beginner hub for the path after this page.

Bell & time: one kettlebell you can swing for 10 clean reps (often 12–16 kg). Plan ~20–30 minutes for 3–4 rounds with 2 min rest. Stop at 3 if the kettlebell swing hinge gets noisy — form beats another round.

Done looks like: goblet squats stay upright, swings float to chest height without yanking, presses lock out without leaning back, rows reach the hip, marches stay tall. Rest the full 2 minutes. Next session: the beginner 20-minute circuit, then timed work on 20-minute and single-bell. Save Simple & Sinister until the swing hinge is solid.

FAQ

Who is this beginner kettlebell fundamentals workout for?
People new to kettlebells who can pick up one bell at home and want a first full session — not a HIIT race. If you cannot hinge without rounding, spend a day on the swing page and start-here guide first.
What kettlebell weight should I use for beginner fundamentals?
One bell you can swing for 10 unbroken reps with a clean hip hinge. Most people start 12–16 kg; women often 8–12 kg; men often 12–16 kg. Press and goblet squat should feel solid for the listed reps. Drop 4 kg if the hinge collapses.
How long does the beginner fundamentals workout take?
About 20–30 minutes for 3–4 rounds with 2 minutes rest after each round. Stop at 3 rounds if form fades. Done means clean reps and a quiet hinge — not a faster clock.
What if my kettlebell swing form is messy?
Treat the swing as a hip hinge, not a squat. Film a side view, then use the swing form page. Keep swings to the listed 15 only if the hike and snap stay quiet; otherwise cut volume and fix the hinge before chasing rounds.
What should I do after beginner kettlebell fundamentals?
Next timed session: the beginner 20-minute circuit on the beginner hub. Then browse 20-minute and single-bell AMRAPs. Simple & Sinister is a separate practice program — only after the swing hinge is solid.
